In early 2019, we worked with AVH Outdoor to realize and launch a new webshop. This of course required a flawless migration from the old website to the new one. After all, the last thing you want is to lose positions.
To coordinate this properly, we drew up a list of action points to be implemented step by step. This way we did not skip important points. For example, one of these points was the creation of a redirect file. This is a file containing all the page urls of the old website. These must be redirected to the new url of the new Web site. If you do not do this, the visitor from the search engine will land on a so-called 404 page. This is not the intention and it is disastrous for your positions within the search engine.
Onpage SEO
With a visually newimproved website , you are not there yet. That's why we also tackled the on-page SEO. Think about the page titles, page descriptions, H-tag structure and rich snippets.
All these elements we have scrutinized and improved where necessary.
In a webshop, most visitors enter through the category pages. Therefore, these are the most important pages and they should be optimized. Based on keyword research, we placed the right SEO texts and images on these pages. It is also important that such a page is addressed from other pages within your website. Otherwise, it is not worth as much in the eyes of the search engine. For this reason it is important to create a proper internal link structure within the website. We have done this by placing internal links from all kinds of pages such as blogs and the product page to the category pages and vice versa.
Content marketing
Within the online marketing world, you often hear the phrase, content is king. And that's absolutely true. Especially with the new algorithm updates from Google, such as the new Google BERT update, content is more important than ever.
The Google BERT update makes Google understand your texts much better than it ever could.
Correct content is therefore a must-have for every website. At AVH outdoor, we conducted a keyword research to determine the search intentions of our visitors. Based on this keyword research, we had texts written so that we could be found on these keywords by our target audience through the search engine. We incorporated these texts into category pages and blogs.
To add value to these pages, we put in place a properinternal link structure and launched alink building campaign .
In January 2019, the new website went live and we immediately saw a 200%increase in visitors
Now what?
Currently, we are still working on AVH Outdoor's website on a weekly basis to improve it. In addition, we take on all marketing related tasks.
