There are many marketing channels available. The big question is really, which channels are these and on which one should I focus. To shed a little more light on that, below I describe the most commonly used channels and how to use them.
Search engine optimization (SEO)
Most entrepreneurs among us have a website, if you don't have one yet my first advice is, make sure you do ;). Building or having a website built is the first step in your online visibility. Many people think that if they have a very nice website built that they will immediately be found. However, this is totally not true.
Technical optimization
First, it is important that the website is technically sound. Is your code correct and is there good use of H-tags and rich snippets? Search engines do not look at the visual aspect of your website but purely at the code behind it. So it is very important that what is written there is absolutely correct. Beyond the technical aspect, content is extremely important. Your website is indexed and ranked based on a number of important pillars such as:
- Code
- Content
- Backlinks
Content
If you have a lot of quality content on your website that matches the search intent of your target audience, you will be more likely to be shown in search results. As the saying goes, content is king. So make sure the content on your website is relevant to your target audience, reads well and contains the right keywords.
Backlinks
A backlinks is really nothing less than another website referring to your website. The value and impact of backlinks is great, you should think of it as most votes count. If there are multiple websites with higher authority referring to your website, then your website must be good. Therefore, the number of quality backlinks is one of the most important factors of search engine ranking.
Search engine advertising (SEA)
Applying search engine optimization is essential for your findability in the long run. However, do you want to see results today? Then it definitely pays to invest in search engine advertising. It is possible to place ads in the search engine. This is based on a PPC model. This stands for pay per click. It means that as an advertiser you pay per click. Within Google Ads (Google's advertising system) you can specify the maximum amount you want to pay per click. The disadvantage of search engine advertising is that as soon as you turn off the money, your ads will no longer be shown. So it is important to always keep investing in SEO. This will get you free visitors!
Social media marketing
Advertising on social media can be incredibly lucrative. It is possible to easily reach your target group. Taking Facebook as an example, they already know a lot about you:
- Interests
- Age
- Gender
- The pages you are a fan of
- Your function
- etcv
In short, Facebook knows very well who you are and what you do. We can use exactly this information for ads. So, for example, we can show an ad to men between 25 and 30 who are interested in fishing.
Content marketing
Earlier I mentioned that content is very important for a Web site. Content is king. It is therefore very important to look at what your visitors are looking for and write content for it. This can be done in many different ways. Think of news items, blog articles or projects you have already completed. To give your article an extra boost, you can add images and/or videos. Look within the Google search console to see what your visitors are searching for. There are also numerous web tools where you can easily score topics for your new tool.
