Google likes relevant websites

The economy is booming and that is why websites are popping up like mushrooms. Very good of course, but how do you stay relevant to search engines among these thousands of websites?

About 60% of websites run on WordPress. WordPress is a CMS (content management system) which makes it easier to build and maintain a website. Adding new features is incredibly easy because there are thousands of plug-ins available. This is because WordPress is open source software so any developer can write plug-ins for it.

Sounds good right?

Personally, I am very skeptical about this. Very nice that every functionality you like is available by installing a plugin but the quality of the website goes down drastically as a result. This is because the quality of the code in plug-ins is not always of good quality. Because of this, it is even possible that by installing a plugin your website will crash or become very slow. Furthermore, the source code of your website will not improve either. Often it is completely cluttered with unnecessary code so the search engine will not understand your website properly.

This is absolutely not the intention!

So should you use WordPress pay close attention to which plugins you install and make sure you do not install unnecessary plugins. The best thing is to choose a website system that is less open. This ensures the quality of the code, giving you that edge over your competition!

Website authority

Search engines show websites based on relevance. So if your website best matches the search intent of the searcher, your website will come up in the search results.

Beforehand, though, there are a few considerations the search engine makes to show a Web site as a "high" result. For example, the search engine will also look at the authority of the website. By this I mean they look at how many websites link to your website to see who is the authority on that particular topic.

So it is very important to make sure that websites link to your websites in order to demonstrate that you are the authority within your industry. This is called link building. The links should be natural links. The links should not be bought from an external party that puts your website on hundreds of other websites. This is called black hat SEO and is not appreciated by the search engine. It can even result in a penalty!

So make sure you write good informative content that does make other websites want to link to you!

The right content strategy is the key to new visitors

Oct. 25, 2019, Google implemented a new update to their algorithm (BERT update). With this new update, Google has a much better understanding of what is on your website. So this has made it even more important to make sure that what is on your website is completely accurate.

Quality content creation has never been more important than it is today. The Internet is completely full of web pages that do not contain as good information. Make sure that the content on your website is accurate and matches the search intent of your target audience. This way you can hit the right chord and give them the information they were looking for right away!

In case you find it really very difficult to enrich your website with new content for your blog or other pages I would like to recommend that you also look at copywriters. This is their profession and most of them are really incredibly good at it.

Content is more than just text. It also includes images. Try to enrich your blogs and pages with images. This way, your text will be easier to read and you will also be findable in the Google image search engine!
