Want to attract more organic visitors to your Web site? Then a keyword analysis is a good starting point. A keyword analysis gives you the tools to improve or supplement the content of your website. But what is keyword analysis and why is it so important?
A keyword analysis or also known as a keyword research and is a basically a research on keywords you might want to be found on. A keyword research is easier to do in a marketing tool such as SemRush and Ahrefs. We use SemRush.
A number of data are important in this study including:
- The volume
- Keyword difficulty
- Trend
This data tells you how hard it is to rank for a particular keyword, the volume on the keyword and the trend of the keyword. For example, a lounge set is searched for more often in the summer than in the winter.
Different types of keywords
There are two types of keywords. Long tail keywords and short tail keywords.
A long tail keyword is a keyword consisting of two or more words.
- A leather gray sofa
A short tail keyword is a keyword that consists of one keyword.
- Bench
The advantage of a long tail keyword is that the searcher is really looking for a specific item. In the example above, the searcher may also be looking for a bank to open an account. Also, competition is cutthroat at the short tail level.
So our advice is to look at the long tail keywords. Here there is usually less competition and the visitors you get from search engine are more purchase oriented.
The keyword research
You can do the keyword research in a tool like SemRush. Here you can enter a keyword and this will give you all kinds of combinations of that word. With these words you will also see the volume etc.
You can place these words in a list and use them to write your content!
A keyword research is important because it tells you more about your potential customer's search behavior. Unfortunately, we cannot be one hundred percent sure what they are searching for. Such research helps and gives you a little more guidance when writing content.
